Navigational instruments

Reflective navegational instrument used for measuring angles, determining the altitude of the sun or the moon and calculating latitude. This piece is made of wood with a metal aliade and an ivory limb graded from 0° to 105°. It is T-shaped, with a double bar and a radius of 25 cm with a nonius graded from 0 to 30. The sight has four filters for the large objective and three for the small, and the visor support has parallel movement to the plane of the limb. This octant has a small label reading “MP Barna”.
