Ship portraits

Portrait of the steamship Habana. This oil-on-canvas painting is a representation of the hybrid Habana, seen from the port side, with sails unfurled. It has square sails on the foremast, and a gaff-rigged sail on the mizzenmast. It flies the flag of the Compañía Trasatlántica on the foremast, and the Spanish flag with the letters CM (for Correo Marítimo, or Maritime Mail) at the stern. This painting is by Antonio Nicolo Gasparo Jacobsen (1850- 1921), a famous American maritime and ship portrait painter.
